The Marvellous Miz Demeanours... if we get caught, you take the blame!!!
"Jazz, soul, blues...... amazing voices" Sydney Telegraph
This highly entetertaining show features a marvellous mix of songs and dynamic harmonies from four sassy ladies: Miz Hap (Gaye Reid), Miz Chief (Karen Strahan), Miz Giving (Lisa McClelland), Miz Conduct (Jill Walsh) in cahoots with the fabulous musical talents of Mister Fied (John Hill / Leo Joseph - musical directors, keyboards, vocals) and Mister Rected (Ben Schumann - drums and percussion).
The Marvellous Miz Demeanours invite you to experience the misdemeanour in all of us. Refusing to be restrained by one musical genre, the Marvellous Miz Demeanours will corrupt you with a hit of jazz, scandalous blues, quirky pop and wicked harmonies.
Hailing from the Nation's capital - Canberra, Karen, Lisa and Jill met at the jazz campus of the Australian National University, Canberra. Karen later wrote and produced a children's show 'Melody Magic' and Gaye was invited to join them. As they continued their musical journey, the four formed harmony group 'High on Heels' and their cabaret show 'Between the Champagne, VB and Gossip', which was directed by Bill Stephens, successfully debuted at the famous School of Arts Cafe. The show continued to enjoy sellout performances at Sydney's hot cabaret spot ~ the Tilbury Hotel and at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
In the late nineties, the girls followed their own musical pursuits with their various bands. Karen and Lisa led popular nine piece jazz outfit: 'Sweet Mischief' with dynamic vocal arrangements by Jill Walsh. Gaye founded her own corporate band 'Big City' which became popular on the local scene and also toured internationally including a performance in China for the Australian Embassy.
In 2001, the girls created a cult following as the 'Darkside Divas'. Jill's intuitive talent for vocal arrangement came to the fore and subsequently the 'Darkside Divas' performed their clever four part harmony arrangements of Queen and Pink Floyd very successfully both in the corporate and private arenas. This included a performance in Martin Place, Sydney where the group proudly promoted the ACT in a live broadcast for a national TV network.
The Miz Demeanours are spoilt for choice with the support of two musical directors, both highly regarded in the industry: Leo Joseph or John Hill, on keyboards and vocals, plus Phil Jenkins on bass and Ben Schumann on drums and percussion. The show can also adapt for smaller venues with stunning solo piano accompaniment.
